Endodontic Re-Treatment
On certain occasions - and for reasons we don’t always understand - your tooth may not heal as expected after an initial root canal. We realize that this can be a very frustrating situation, so we are here to help.
Our doctors will discuss your treatment options after performing diagnostic tests and obtaining an x-ray. If you choose to proceed with re-treatment, we will administer a local anesthetic and reopen your tooth to gain access to the root canal filling material.
In some cases, it may be necessary to disassemble or remove complex restorations like crowns and/or posts and core material to permit access to the root canal. After removing your previous root canal filling, we carefully clean each canal and examine the inside of your tooth with the aid of a microscope for any unusual anatomy or additional canals that may require further treatment.
